Poodle Birthdays are Just Around the Corner
For those who have a pup from the Philips’ litter, it’s almost birthday time. On March 12 our pups will be a year old. Gumbo is still pretty puppy-like in that he is very excitable and tends to be really bouncy. Lately he jumps. We have pretty well broken him from jumping on us, but he just jumps when he gets excited. Creole was a lot like that until about three months ago. She seemed to go through a transition around the holidays where she calmed down quite a bit. Some of you who have had Standards before might can shed some light on this.
How’s your pup a year into its life? Get those cameras ready ya’ll. It’s poodle birthday time!

Ed, my apricot Standard male was a year old in December. He is still really active, but not really hyper. Last week, we got a black male Standard that was a year old in January. He is a little more reserved than Ed, but still active. They both are really very good and don’t jump up very much.

Shyly doesn’t jump up very much, but Reagan does when we come home from school during the day. I’ll make sure to take lots of pictures and send them to you.

Yes, Killee just had his birthday Wednesday. We were out of town, however Riverside Kennel in Fort Worth [ the one on bomar Street -- they are FABULOUS} let us bring all the party gear before we left -- they decorated his double run, took photos and Killee even had birthday cookies to share with all his kennel buddies. They just groomed him when we picked him up today and he looks gorgeous! We will post birthday photos when Suzette sends them to us.
On another note, Apollo [another of the Phillips litter] will be staying with Killee [and us] for a week beginning tomorrow. Kilee is so excited everytime we tiell him Apollo is coming to visit for a week! The two of them always have a blast together. If they calm down for two minutes, we’ll try to snap a photo to post here.
And yes, Killee jumps! but only when he’s excited — net, net when we first get home. We are mised about making him stop as we remember how heartbreaking it was when our last poodle stopped jumping — we missed it. We don’t allow him to jump on other people — but he seems to know we “allow” it. Oh well, when he knocks me over [which he nearly has done many times] I may change my mind. Nearly 60 lbs jumping is a bit much….especially 60 lbs, with an enormaous heart of love and tons of kisses to back it up!

I have been out of town on a fishing trip since Monday. I am currently sitting in the Orlando airport waiting for a plane back to DFW. Judi and I are taking Gumbo and Creole to Dairy Queen tomorrow and getting them an ice cream cone (very little ice cream). We are planning to get party hats and of course we will video the event for the site.
I was sorry to miss his birthday but fishing is VERY important

Bella - what hilarious little brithday getup you have there…..are they going to blackmail you when you get older with those photos?
And you are a pretty little girl… you always looks so happy! Hope you had a great birthday with lots of cake and presents!
Keep posting those adorable photos! Hope we can play football one day……of course you can’t wear that pink outfit when we’re playing football…..

Bella — pretty Sis, where did you get that pink get-up? Are they going to blackmail you later with those photos?

Bella!! YOU ARE ADORABLE!!! I love your poofy little ears!!! Reagan’s ears are cut short, and I love your long ears!!! And that dress makes you look much older, by the way!!! Just Kidding, but I really do love your dress. Where did you find it??
